70-year-old woman in Tamil Nadu passes Class 12 exams

In an inspiring achievement from Coimbatore, 70-year-old Raani has proven that age is no barrier to education by successfully passing the Tamil Nadu Class 12 board exams. Living alone after the death of her husband, Raani had always dreamed of continuing her studies, despite life's challenges. On Thursday, she achieved her goal, scoring a total of 346 out of 600 marks in the Higher Secondary Examination (HSE).
Her subject scores include 89 in Tamil, 52 in History, and 50 in English, an accomplishment that has earned her admiration from the local community and beyond. Raani's success has become a symbol of perseverance, inspiring others to pursue their educational dreams at any age.
The Tamil Nadu state exams saw a strong overall pass rate of 95.03%, with 7,53,142 students passing out of 7,92,494 who appeared. Ariyalur district topped the state with a pass percentage of 98.82%. In Science, the pass rate was 96.90%, and Commerce students achieved 92.68%. Notably, 9,536 students scored full marks in Computer Science.
The Class 12 exams were held from March 3 to 25 across 3,316 centers. This year, results were released early on May 8, with students able to access their marks online.
