On Wednesday evening, Gujarat police seized 1,283 kg of beef being transported in the parcel van of a Mumbai-bound express train at Vadodara railway station. The beef was discovered in 16 parcels on the Golden Temple Express. Following the seizure, an FIR was filed against two individuals, Vijay Singh and Jafar Shabir, after forensic tests confirmed the meat was beef. The case has been registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, which addresses offenses like killing or harming animals.

Saroj Kumari, Superintendent of Police (SP) at Western Railway, Vadodara, confirmed that the meat had been transported from Amritsar, Punjab. The authorities received a tip-off about banned meat being carried on the train, prompting the raid. Following the seizure, the meat was sent for forensic testing at the Surat Forensic Science Laboratory, which confirmed its identity as beef.

The police have launched a search for the accused, the sender, and receiver of the parcels, who are facing charges for violating animal protection laws. Authorities are working to track down the individuals responsible for the illegal transportation of the beef. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts by Gujarat police to combat illegal meat trafficking and enforce animal protection laws.
