Vin Diesel wants Brian back for final film

Vin Diesel, the face of the Fast & Furious franchise, has shared three conditions for the final film, which Universal Studios hopes to release in April 2027. The franchise began in 2001 with Diesel as Dominic Toretto and has since expanded to 10 films, a spinoff (Hobbs & Shaw), two short films, and a Netflix animated series (Spy Racers).

At the recent FuelFest event in Southern California, Diesel spoke to fans about the final installment. He revealed that the studio suggested the 2027 release, but he agreed only under specific conditions. His first demand is that the story returns to Los Angeles, where it all began. Second, he wants the film to focus again on street racing, a core element of the early movies. Lastly, he expressed a wish to reunite with Brian O'Conner, the character played by the late Paul Walker.

Diesel said, I told the studio I’d do it if we bring the story back to LA, return to car culture and reunite Dom and Brian.

Paul Walker tragically passed away in 2013 while filming Fast & Furious 7. To complete the movie, his brothers Cody and Caleb Walker, along with CGI effects, helped finish his remaining scenes.

The latest film, Fast X, hit theatres in 2023 and featured stars like Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Momoa, and Alan Ritchson, with Louis Leterrier directing.
