Varun Dhawan roles that showcased his acting skills
Varun Dhawan, one of Bollywood’s most charismatic stars, turned a year older on April 24. Born in 1987, he is the son of director David Dhawan. Varun began his acting journey with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year in 2012, where he played a stylish, arrogant teenager. The film was a big hit with younger audiences and launched him into stardom.
He continued to win hearts with commercial successes like Main Tera Hero, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. But beyond his romantic and comic roles, Varun has proven his acting depth with more serious performances.
In Badlapur, he impressed as Raghav, a man driven by grief and revenge, showing his ability to handle intense roles. In Shoojit Sircar’s October, Varun played a sensitive young man caring for a comatose friend. Critics praised his restrained and emotional performance, calling it a turning point in his career.
He also surprised viewers in the horror-comedy Bhediya (2022), where his transformation into a werewolf was both amusing and powerful. The film earned multiple Filmfare nominations. In Sui Dhaaga, Varun portrayed Mauji, a small-town tailor trying to build a life with dignity, which earned him further praise.
Varun is now gearing up for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, and Border 2, which co-stars Sunny Deol and Diljit Dosanjh. With each role, Varun continues to evolve as an actor worth watching.
