‘Udaipur Files’ Producer Gets Y-Security

Amid growing controversy and security threats linked to his upcoming film Udaipur Files, producer Amit Jani has been granted Y-category security by the government. The security detail, which includes 11 CRPF personnel, is limited to Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

Jani, expressing his gratitude on X (formerly Twitter), thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the protection.

Udaipur Files is based on the 2022 murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, who was killed after allegedly posting support for BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. The murderers recorded the act, claiming it was in retaliation for his post. Due to its sensitive content, the film has drawn significant legal attention. One of the accused, Javed, has approached the Supreme Court to halt the film’s release.

Originally scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, the film faced delays due to censorship issues. The CBFC demanded around 150 cuts before approving it. It is now set to release on August 8, 2025, with actor Vijay Raaz playing the lead role.

Produced under intense scrutiny, Udaipur Files has already sparked public debate. With its focus on a real and politically charged incident, the film is expected to be one of the most talked-about releases of the year.
