'Superman' footage drops, first look at DC film

James Gunn, co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, has released a much-awaited sneak peek of the upcoming Superman film. Just hours before Disney/Marvel’s CinemaCon presentation, Gunn shared the clip on social media, writing, Check out this Sneak Peek of Superman, flying into theaters July 11.

Originally revealed at CinemaCon, the footage features David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Fans also get a touching glimpse of Superman’s reunion with his loyal dog Krypto. Another scene shows Superman inside the Fortress of Solitude, where robots care for him after an injury.

Speaking at CinemaCon, Gunn shared that he was first offered the project in 2018 but wasn’t ready to take it on. It stuck with me, he said, explaining that he kept thinking about how to make Superman—a character some see as outdated—feel fresh for today’s audience.

Gunn explained that the film is about kindness and human love. I want people to feel something magical, he said, and love the person they came with a little more.

Superman, set to release on July 11, will be the first DC Studios film under the new leadership of Gunn and Peter Safran. The teaser has already generated excitement among fans, offering a heartfelt and modern take on one of DC’s most iconic heroes.
