SRK surprises DDLJ Musical cast in London
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan surprised the cast and crew of Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical during rehearsals in London, ahead of the show’s UK premiere. His unexpected visit brought joy and excitement as he shared memories from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), the 1995 film that made him a global icon.
Jena Pandya, who plays Simran in the musical, said performing scenes in front of SRK was an unforgettable experience. It was surreal and truly an honour, she shared. Ashley Day, who plays Rog (a new take on Raj), described the moment as a quiet but powerful passing of the torch.
Directed by original DDLJ filmmaker Aditya Chopra, the musical reimagines the beloved story for international audiences. It will run at Manchester Opera House from May 29 to June 21. The production includes music by Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, who were thrilled by Khan’s presence. He brought such positive energy and loved what he saw, said Vishal.
Sheykhar noted SRK’s strong connection to theatre, saying his passion lit up the room. Khan didn’t just watch—he engaged with the cast, shared stories from his theatre days, and celebrated the timeless magic of DDLJ.
The musical blends Indian and Western elements, with a team of acclaimed creatives including Nell Benjamin, Rob Ashford, and Shruti Merchant. Shah Rukh Khan’s visit gave the team a boost of motivation, adding a touch of magic to their journey toward opening night.
