Shiva Rajkumar Backs Ramya Against Darshan Fans
Veteran Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar has voiced his support for actress and former MP Ramya after she lodged a police complaint against fans of actor Darshan. The complaint was filed following rape and death threats Ramya received online. The threats reportedly began after she supported the Supreme Court’s criticism of the Karnataka High Court’s decision to grant bail to Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case.
Shiva Rajkumar took to X (formerly Twitter) to back Ramya, saying, Your stance is correct divyaspandana, we will always stand with you. He strongly condemned the abusive language directed at her, stating, Such words against any woman are unacceptable. We must show respect to women, not just as family members, but as individuals.
He also warned about the misuse of social media. It is a powerful tool that should not be used to spread hatred or jealousy, he said, adding once again, We will stand by you, Ramya.
In a recent interview, Ramya shared that she had already reported 43 abusive accounts and suspected that over 100 more fake profiles were behind the online trolling. Earlier, I used to ignore it, thinking it came with public life. But this time, it crossed all limits, she said. Authorities have confirmed that her complaint will be passed on to the cybercrime department.
The online attacks followed Ramya’s post praising the Supreme Court as a ray of hope for seeking justice in the Renukaswamy case.
