Sara: I dehumanised Alia, jealous of her win
Sara Ali Khan, who appears next in Metro...In Dino, recently admitted she once felt jealous when Alia Bhatt won a National Award for Gangubai Kathiawadi. Sara, who debuted in Kedarnath and was last seen in Skyforce, confessed this during an interview with NDTV. She said that when Alia received the award, she thought, She’s a mother now, her life is secured, without realizing the struggles Alia faced to reach that point.
Sara continued, I dehumanized her—I didn’t stop to think about what she went through. She emphasized that people often only see the end result and forget the hard work and setbacks behind it. There are two sides to every coin, she noted.
Reflecting on envy, Sara pointed out how it can blind us. When we’re jealous, we only see success. We don’t see the challenges and disappointments that lead up to it. Envy means we remain blind to the full story, she explained.
Metro...In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, releases on July 4 and features an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Sheikh. With this new film on the horizon, Sara’s honest admission shows her willingness to learn and grow, recognizing that success is often the result of unseen effort and resilience.
