Ryan Reynolds hints at early-stage 'Deadpool/X-Men' crossover
Ryan Reynolds is exploring a new project that could bring Deadpool and the X-Men together in a team-up film. Reynolds is working on several ideas for a movie that would feature three or four X-Men characters, with Deadpool playing a supporting role.
Reynolds has previously stated that he needs a compelling reason to continue making Deadpool films, and this potential collaboration with the X-Men might provide that motivation. However, this project is separate from a potential X-Men film that Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie is currently developing for Marvel Studios.
While it’s unclear which X-Men characters might appear, actress Cynthia Erivo has publicly expressed interest in portraying Storm in the MCU. Reynolds would, of course, defer to Marvel for any casting decisions. The project is still in the early stages, and Reynolds is working on it independently before presenting it to Marvel. He’s known for developing ideas before sharing them with the studio, so the project could change considerably before moving forward.
In addition to this potential team-up, Reynolds is also working on a script rewrite for Boy Band, a Paramount film about aging members of a boy band, in which he’s set to star. His friend Hugh Jackman is reportedly interested in co-starring. Reynolds has emphasized his passion for storytelling, saying, I'm more passionate about storytelling than I am about acting.
