Filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., popularly known as Raj & DK, recently celebrated 16 years since the release of their debut Hindi film, 99. On Wednesday, they shared a nostalgic post on Instagram, looking back at their early days in the industry.

They fondly recalled a time before streaming, before content, before hashtags... and before we had beards, marking their first major project in Hindi cinema. Released in 2009, 99 is a quirky crime comedy set against the 1999 cricket match-fixing scandal. It starred Kunal Kemmu, Soha Ali Khan, Vinod Khanna, Boman Irani, and Cyrus Broacha. The story follows small-time hustlers caught in a web of unexpected twists and shady deals.

In their post, Raj & DK thanked everyone who joined them on this unique cinematic journey and tagged key cast and crew members, including Kunal Kemmu, Boman Irani, Cyrus Broacha, and the late Amit Mistry, honoring those who helped make the film possible.

Today, Raj & DK are known for their bold storytelling and unique genre mixes, with hits like Go Goa Gone and The Family Man. Their upcoming project, Citadel: Honey Bunny, is a much-anticipated Indian prequel to the global Citadel series, starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

As 99 reaches this milestone, their throwback highlights their humble beginnings and the lasting impact of their first film on Hindi cinema.
