Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has surprised fans with a big reveal—he’s playing the villain in Coolie, the much-awaited action film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Rajinikanth. The film is nearly finished and is set to release on August 14. With a star-studded cast including Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir, excitement is rising.

In a recent interview, Nagarjuna shared how he joined Coolie. While promoting his other film Kuberaa, he recalled how director Lokesh approached him with a unique offer. “He asked me if I’d be okay playing the antagonist. He said if I wasn’t, we could just have tea and forget it,” Nagarjuna joked. But after hearing the script, he was convinced.

Nagarjuna’s role in Coolie is very different from his recent characters. Known mostly for playing heroes, his shift to a villain’s role is a big change. Fans are eager to see how he brings this dark character to life.

He also compared his experience in Coolie with his role in Kuberaa. “In Kuberaa, everything had to be perfect—even how I sipped coffee. But in Coolie, I felt freedom. That’s the word I’d use to describe my role—freedom,” he said.

The film is also buzzing with rumors of a cameo by Aamir Khan, adding to its star power. As the release date nears, all eyes are on this exciting action drama. Nagarjuna’s bold new role adds fresh intrigue to Coolie’s story.
