Actress Mona Singh, recently seen in the supernatural thriller Munjya, marked International Women’s Day by advocating for greater female representation in the entertainment industry.

Emphasizing the need for empowerment, she stressed that real progress comes from equal opportunities. To truly empower women in our industry, we must increase female representation, embrace diversity, and ensure equal opportunities, she stated.

Mona highlighted the significance of nuanced storytelling, adding, More women in front of and behind the camera, along with complex female characters and breaking stereotypes, will bring real change to cinema.

On the professional front, Mona was recently seen in the streaming series Kaala Paani and Munjya, which became an unexpected box office hit. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya is part of Maddock Films' supernatural universe, featuring Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma, and Sathyaraj in key roles.

The film explores the eerie folklore of Munjya, spirits of young boys who died before marriage and are believed to haunt peepal trees in Maharashtra’s Konkan region. The gripping narrative follows Gotya, a young Brahmin boy whose tragic obsession with love leads him into the world of dark magic—ultimately sealing his doomed fate.
