LA Marathon rescheduled to avoid 2026 Oscars clash
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the LA Marathon organisers have come to an agreement to avoid a scheduling conflict in 2026. The LA Marathon will now take place on the third Sunday of March, while the Oscars will be held on a different date.
The issue arose because both events were originally set for Sunday, March 15, 2026. The marathon route runs through Hollywood Boulevard, the same location where the Oscars red carpet is set up in front of the Dolby Theatre. To prevent overlap and logistical problems, both sides worked together to find a solution.
LA Mayor Karen Bass shared the news, praising the teamwork between the Academy and marathon organisers. The decision ensures that both high-profile events can run smoothly without interference.
In addition, the Academy and LA Marathon organisers have agreed to collaborate in the future to support and promote each other’s events, though specific plans are yet to be revealed. This new arrangement not only prevents future clashes but also opens the door for a stronger partnership between two major Los Angeles events.
