Kerala govt vows action on Vincy Aloshious' allegations against Shine Tom Chacko
The Kerala government has announced it will investigate Malayalam actor Vincy Aloshious' serious allegations against Shine Tom Chacko, who she claims used drugs on a movie set. Excise Minister M B Rajesh emphasized that drug use is unacceptable in any industry, including films, and vowed to probe the issue based on available information, even if no formal complaint is filed by Aloshious. He stressed that no sector, including cinema, would be exempt from scrutiny regarding drug use.
Similarly, Fisheries, Culture, and Youth Affairs Minister Saji Cherian described the allegations as serious, promising immediate action against drug use in the film industry. He commended Aloshious for speaking out and stated that such behavior is intolerable. Cherian further asserted that the Malayalam film industry must uphold its positive image and fight against illegal activities like drug use, calling for resistance within the industry itself.
While Aloshious chose not to file a police complaint, she confirmed she would cooperate with authorities if approached. She also lodged complaints with the Kerala Film Chamber and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), urging appropriate action. Aloshious revealed that Chacko, who was previously acquitted in a drug case, behaved inappropriately on set, making explicit comments and creating an uncomfortable situation. The issue, which surfaced during a No to Drugs campaign, has raised awareness of drug use on film sets, prompting calls for stricter actions.
