Kannappa trailer launched, Mohanlal praised
The official trailer of Kannappa, the much-anticipated pan-Indian film starring Vishnu Manchu in the lead, has finally been released. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the mythological action drama features a star-studded cast, including Indian cinema heavyweights Mohanlal, Prabhas, and Akshay Kumar in pivotal roles. The film is set to hit theatres on June 27.
Produced by veteran actor Mohan Babu under his home banner, the film has garnered significant buzz for its scale, casting, and grandeur. Speaking at the trailer launch event in Kochi, Mohan Babu shared the emotional and personal inspiration behind Kannappa, crediting Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for motivating his vision and praising his humility.
“The humbleness, the simple man… I don’t know what he is taking,” Mohan Babu joked affectionately. “But from the day I met him till today, his personality has not changed. He’s the same—pure-hearted and positive.” Vishnu Manchu, who plays the titular role, expressed excitement about working with some of Indian cinema’s biggest names. The film aims to retell the devotional story of Kannappa, a legendary Shaivite devotee, in a visually spectacular and emotionally rich narrative.
The trailer showcases epic battle sequences, spiritual themes, and larger-than-life visuals. It also hints at powerful cameo appearances by Prabhas and Akshay Kumar, which are expected to play crucial roles in the film’s storyline.
With music composed by Stephen Devassy and cinematography by Sheldon Chau, Kannappa promises to be a grand cinematic offering for audiences across languages. The film will be released in multiple Indian languages, adding to its pan-India appeal.
