Kichcha Sudeep, known for his versatility in films like Eega, is set to return to the big screen with the high-octane thriller Max, directed by Vijay Kartikeyaa, releasing this Christmas. The film unfolds over a single night, with Sudeep playing a police officer resuming duty after suspension. While he excels in action-packed roles, Sudeep has consciously avoided historical dramas, favoring fantasy and simple stories instead.

Explaining his preference, Sudeep shared, Fantasy allows creative freedom. It’s like a grandmother’s tale—boundless and engaging. Historical dramas, however, are restrictive and demand authenticity, which can feel stifling. He also admitted discomfort with portraying real historical figures, citing the pressure of accuracy. There’s a fine line between overdoing and underperforming in such roles. It’s not my thing, he added.

Another deterrent for Sudeep is horse-riding, common in period films. Recalling an incident during Puli, where a startled horse bolted with him stuck in the stirrups, he said, That experience solidified my decision to avoid historical dramas.

On a personal note, Sudeep reflected on the emotional journey of making Max, recalling his late mother, Saroja. She never missed his films and loved his grand introduction scenes. Her passing left a void I can’t fill, he said. Despite the loss, Sudeep remains committed to delivering impactful performances, blending emotion with his trademark style.
