To support the film industry and honour its talent, the Telangana government has set up a committee led by filmmaker B Narsing Rao to design the process for the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards. This initiative, announced by the Information and Public Relations Department, will be managed by the Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC).

Earlier this month, TFDC invited applications from directors and producers for the awards, which aim to recognise the best Telugu films certified by the Censor Board in 2024. The awards cover various categories, including Feature Films (Telugu and Urdu), National Integration Films, Children’s Films, Environmental or Historical Films, First-Time Director Films, Entertaining Films, Animation and Special Effects Films, Documentary and Short Films, along with awards for Best Actors and Technicians.

TFDC has received 76 entries across film categories and 1172 nominations in individual award categories. A 15-member jury, led by senior actress Jayasudha, will evaluate the entries and decide on the winners.

In addition to the main awards, special honours will be presented, such as the NTR National Film Award, BN Reddy Film Award, Paidi Jairaj Film Award, Nagireddy and Chakrapani Film Award, Kantha Rao Film Award, and Raghupati Venkaiah Film Award.

The Gaddar Telangana Film Awards will also recognise one exceptional Telugu film each year from 2014 to 2023, based on Censor Board certification during that period.
