Director Sanoj Mishra, known for casting viral sensation Monalisa, has been arrested in a rape case after his bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court.

On March 30, 2024, Delhi Police apprehended the 45-year-old filmmaker in Ghaziabad using intelligence and surveillance. Mishra, who resides in Mumbai with his family, was taken into custody at Nabi Karim Police Station.

The case involves a 28-year-old aspiring actress from a small town who alleged that Mishra raped her multiple times over four years while they were in a live-in relationship in Mumbai. She further claimed he forced her to undergo three abortions and failed to honor his promise of marriage.

An FIR was registered on March 6, 2024, under charges of rape, assault, causing miscarriage, and criminal intimidation. The victim reaffirmed her allegations in a statement under Section 164 of the CrPC.

Medical evidence of the alleged abortions was recovered from Muzaffarnagar, strengthening the case against Mishra. The police report states that on February 18, 2025, Mishra took the woman to Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim, where he allegedly assaulted her before abandoning her, leading to the complaint.

Following the Delhi High Court’s rejection of his bail plea, Mishra was arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue.
