TV host and comedian Conan O’Brien will voice a new character named Smarty Pants in Disney and Pixar’s upcoming film Toy Story 5, set to release in theatres on June 19, 2026. The film is the fifth installment in the beloved Toy Story series and a sequel to Toy Story 4 (2019).

Directed by Oscar-winner Andrew Stanton and co-directed by McKenna Harris, the film also brings back fan favorites Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz Lightyear. New cast members include Anna Faris, Ernie Hudson, and Conan O’Brien. The film is produced by Jessica Choi.

O’Brien humorously announced his involvement on social media, joking that he was ready to voice Woody or Buzz but later realized that Smarty Pants is the best character of them all.

Toy Story 4 was a massive success, receiving critical acclaim and earning over $1 billion globally. It also held the record for the biggest animated film opening at the time with $244.5 million worldwide.

Tim Allen recently teased that Toy Story 5 will focus more on Jessie, the brave cowgirl introduced in Toy Story 2 and voiced by Joan Cusack. He also hinted at a powerful opening scene with Buzz Lightyear and confirmed that Woody and Buzz will reunite once again.

With a mix of returning favorites and new characters, Toy Story 5 promises to bring another heartfelt and entertaining adventure.
