Blake Lively drops claim in Baldoni feud
The legal fight between Hollywood star Blake Lively and It Ends With Us co-star/director Justin Baldoni has taken a new turn. Reports from The Independent and other U.S. outlets say Lively plans to drop a major claim from her lawsuit—specifically, her allegation that Baldoni intentionally and negligently caused her emotional distress during filming.
This move follows Baldoni’s legal team’s request to access Lively’s private medical and therapy records, which could have revealed sensitive personal details. The legal battle began in January, when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and claimed he tried to ruin her career with a smear campaign after filming. Baldoni denied all accusations and responded with a $400 million defamation countersuit. His lawsuit also alleges that Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, tried to harm his reputation.
On Monday, lawyers for Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, asked the court to force Lively to sign a HIPAA release for her medical records. Soon after, Lively’s team confirmed she would drop the emotional distress claim, likely to protect her privacy.
Despite removing this specific charge, Lively still stands by her key accusations—sexual harassment, retaliation, and damage to her career and emotional well-being. She is said to be seeking significant compensation.
In a twist last month, Baldoni’s team also withdrew a subpoena for pop star Taylor Swift, who was rumored to know behind-the-scenes details.
The trial is set for March 9, 2026, and public interest remains high as both sides prepare for a long legal battle.
