‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ nears ₹50 cr in Week 1
New Delhi
Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s Bhool Chuk Maaf is turning into a surprise box office success. The time-loop romantic comedy, which released on May 23, had a slow start but picked up pace over its first weekend. The film earned an estimated ₹3.25 crore on Day 7, taking its total to around ₹44 crore, according to early figures from Sacnilk.
The weekend saw a strong push, with Sunday being the highest-grossing day at ₹11 crore. Though weekday numbers dropped slightly, they remained steady: ₹4.5 crore on both Monday and Tuesday, ₹3.5 crore on Wednesday, and ₹3.25 crore on Thursday.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh praised the film’s performance, noting that it remained stable even after discounted ticket pricing ended mid-week. Thursday showed consistent attendance, with an overall Hindi occupancy of 11.19%, especially during night shows — a sign of growing word-of-mouth appeal.
Directed by newcomer Karan Sharma, the film follows Ranjan (Rao), a nervous groom stuck in a time loop just before his wedding to Titli (Gabbi). The unique concept is backed by strong performances from the lead pair and veteran actors like Sanjay Mishra, Raghubir Yadav, and Seema Pahwa.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Maddock Films, Bhool Chuk Maaf blends humor, fantasy, and emotion in a fresh way. With steady collections and rising audience interest, the film is expected to cross the ₹50 crore milestone in its second weekend, marking a quiet yet notable success.
