Former US President Barack Obama has unveiled his favorite movies for 2024, and topping the list is All We Imagine As Light, directed by Payal Kapadia. The Indian film, which received a Golden Globe nomination, captured Obama’s heart as one of the best films he watched this year.

Obama shared his annual movie, book, and music recommendations on his social media, calling the film a standout. The full list includes Dune Part 2, The Piano Lesson, Conclave, and more. Obama wrote, “Here are a few movies I’d recommend checking out this year.”

All We Imagine As Light, a poignant Indo-French co-production, follows Prabha, a troubled nurse, and Anu, her roommate, on a life-changing trip. The film explores their emotional journeys and desires. Starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam, it won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, making history as the first Indian film in 30 years to compete in Cannes' main section.

The film also won Best International Feature at the Gotham Awards and two nominations at the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards.

A fan of the film remarked, “It’s an emotional, beautifully crafted story that touches deep human themes.”
