Baby John OTT release: Varun Dhawan starrer disappoints viewers
Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh’s action film Baby John is now streaming on Prime Video. Directed by Kalees, the Bollywood remake of Tamil hit Theri struggled at the box office and received mixed reviews. Despite its poor theatrical performance, the film now has another chance to reach audiences online.
Produced by Atlee and Priya Atlee, Baby John follows an ex-police officer (played by Dhawan) who goes into hiding to protect his daughter from dangerous enemies. Jackie Shroff plays the antagonist, while Wamiqa Gabbi has a key supporting role. The film also features a cameo by Salman Khan.
Varun Dhawan expressed his excitement about the project, calling it a significant step in his career. He stated that working on an intense action film pushed him beyond his comfort zone, both physically and as an actor. However, many viewers were unimpressed, criticizing the film’s execution and unfavorable comparisons to the original.
Reactions on social media were harsh, with some calling it a weak attempt to replicate Vijay’s hit. Others pointed out Bollywood’s struggles in delivering compelling remakes. Despite this, Baby John now gives fans the chance to judge it for themselves on Prime Video. Whether it finds a new audience or continues to face criticism remains to be seen.
