Ashika Ranganath: Multilingual work boosted my discipline

Kannada actress Ashika Ranganath, known for her roles in Sardar 2 and Vishwambhara, shares how her journey in films began simply for experience but soon became a passion. She describes her character in Sardar 2, directed by PS Mithran, as a modern young woman representing today’s generation. Ashika was approached for the film after her Telugu movie Naa Saami Ranga. Although she doesn’t share scenes with Malavika Mohanan, she praises Karthi as an amazing and passionate actor.

Ashika says working in multiple languages has made her stronger and more disciplined. Growing up in Tumkur, where Kannada is her mother tongue, she found Tamil the hardest to learn but speaks Telugu more fluently due to watching many Telugu films.

She admits she never planned to become an actor; her parents encouraged her to try acting, while she initially wanted to be an entrepreneur. After her debut in 2016’s Crazy Boy, she realized she could improve and grow in the field.

Ashika understands the tough competition in the industry and the importance of connections, but believes success depends on a mix of luck, hard work, and discipline.

Looking ahead, she’s excited about her Kannada period drama Gathavaibhava and Telugu film Vishwambhara, where she plays a warrior princess. She found working on a blue screen set challenging but appreciated Chiranjeevi’s support.

Her favorite actors are Puneeth Rajkumar and Ramya, whom she admires for their talent and presence on screen.
