Anurag Kashyap Compares Streaming PatformsTo Colonizers

AnuragKashyap who has been the flag bearer for independent cinema in the country is worried about its future. In an interview he mentioned that as of today independent cinema is in a very bad and confused place.
Talking more about it he said that lockdown changed everything as during lockdown streaming became the space for Indian Cinema and mainstream cinema also took what was always theatrical to streaming and streamers began to prefer them over a lot of Independent cinema. And now one has to grab attention to survive.
Anurag also compared the business strategies of streaming platforms similar to those of colonizers of East India Company who enter and become your best friend first and then become your rulers. He is also predicting that the way streaming platforms are progressing, slowly but surely theaters will go out of business as theaters are the enemies of streamers.
Anurag has worked on quite a few streaming projects from Sacred Games to Choked while his last two films Dobaaraa and Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, got theatrical release but gained some popularity after they were released on streaming platforms.
