Ana de Armas eyed for 'Evelyn Hugo' lead
Ana de Armas has shown interest in playing the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s popular novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. The Ballerina star said she’s open to portraying Evelyn Hugo, a mysterious and glamorous Hollywood icon.
When asked about fans wanting her in the role, Ana responded, I heard that, yeah, according to source. She also shared her love for exploring different roles and genres. One of the things I love about acting is doing everything. You have to try all the things you can, she said.
The film is currently in development at Netflix, with Liz Tigelaar writing the screenplay and also serving as executive producer along with Reid and Margaret Chernin. The cast has not been confirmed yet, but fan discussions are already buzzing online.
Alongside Ana de Armas, actresses like Jessica Chastain and Eiza Gonzalez have also been mentioned by fans. However, Chastain has made it clear she won’t be playing Celia St. James, saying there's zero possibility of her taking the role. On the other hand, Eiza Gonzalez has expressed strong interest in playing Evelyn Hugo. She said, It’d be such an honor... I love the book. I love all [Reid’s] stuff. I’m a huge fan. With casting still pending, fans eagerly await the official announcements.
