Abbas Returns to Tamil Cinema After 11 Years
Actor Abbas, who was last seen in the 2014 Tamil film Ramanujan, is set to return to Tamil cinema after more than a decade. The actor, known for his charming roles in the '90s, will be seen in a key role in an upcoming comedy entertainer. The film stars GV Prakash Kumar and Lover actress Sri Gouri Priya in the lead and is directed by debutant Maria Raja Elenchezhian.
The director shared that Abbas will be seen in a fresh look and has already joined the film's current shooting schedule happening in Pollachi. He mentioned, I needed someone with Abbas sir's screen presence and looks for this role. When I approached him, he loved the script, and we both felt this would be a perfect comeback.
Maria Raja, who previously assisted Pradeep Ranganathan in Love Today and was part of the writing team for Dragon, revealed that he had been in talks with Abbas for over five months before finalizing him for the role.
Though the filmmaker is tight-lipped about the nature of Abbas’s character, he confirmed it will break the usual mold. This won’t be a stereotypical comeback role like a villain. It’s something different and exciting, he added.

With the shooting progressing steadily in Pollachi, more updates about the film are expected soon.
