Youth dies after street attack, untreated
A 24-year-old cab driver succumbed to injuries after being attacked by a group of youths in Bengaluru while out for a snack. The victim, identified as Arun Kumar from Nandini Layout, died at Victoria Hospital following a lack of timely medical treatment.
The incident occurred on July 19, when Arun had stepped out with friends to eat pani puri near Gyanavardhak School in Lavakusha Nagar. According to police, a group of five to six men approached him and hurled abuses, accusing him of being “too popular in the locality.” Without warning, the assailants launched a brutal attack using lethal weapons on Arun and his friend Rohit.
Severely injured, Arun was rushed to Victoria Hospital by his friends, but despite efforts, he passed away during treatment. Police confirmed that the delay in medical attention contributed to his death. His mother later filed a complaint, based on which a case has been registered. Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the assault.
In a separate but equally disturbing case, the Hennur Police arrested a man named Shivam for allegedly killing his wife Sumana and living with her corpse for three days. The couple, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had moved to Bengaluru six months ago. A domestic dispute escalated into violence, during which Shivam fatally struck Sumana while intoxicated. He continued his routine while the body lay in the house, even cooking and drinking near it. The foul smell eventually alerted neighbors, leading to police intervention and Shivam’s arrest.
