Yettinahole Project to Be Completed in 2 Years: CM Siddaramaiah

In its 14th cabinet meeting of the year, the Karnataka government sanctioned ₹3,400 crore for 48 key projects in the Bengaluru Revenue Division. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that ₹2,050 crore of this will go specifically to Bengaluru Division One.

A major highlight was the progress of the Yettinahole drinking water project, aimed at supplying 24.1 TMC of water to 75 lakh people across nine districts. Of this, 14 TMC is dedicated to drinking needs. The project’s cost has been revised to ₹23,251 crore, with ₹17,147 crore already spent and 90% of the work completed. Siddaramaiah stated that priority will be given to drinking water before lake filling, and the project will be completed within two years. So far, 85% of the gravity main canal work, worth ₹9,807 crore, is done, and ₹8,000 crore more will be invested for completion.

The cabinet also approved:

• ₹2,250 crore for 31 development projects in Bengaluru district.

• ₹1,125 crore for residential schools for children of labourers, with two ₹10 crore schools in Bengaluru for backward class aspirants of IAS, IPS, and IRS exams.

• Renaming Bangalore Central University to Dr. Manmohan Singh Bangalore City University.

• Starting Community Health Centres (CHCs) in taluks without Primary Health Centres.

• Renaming Bangalore Rural to Bengaluru North.

• Renaming Bagepalli to Bhagyanagar.

These changes are aimed at enhancing infrastructure, education, and healthcare access across the region.
