Yeshwanthpur Railway Station to Get World-Class Makeover
Bengaluru: Yeshwanthpur Railway Station, Bengaluru’s second busiest rail hub, is undergoing a transformative ₹378 crore redevelopment project aimed at delivering a world-class travel experience. According to South Western Railway officials, 56% of the work has been completed, with the inauguration likely to take place next year upon full project completion.
The revamp includes state-of-the-art infrastructure on both the eastern and western sides of the station. On the eastern side (Yeshwanthpur Market entrance), a multi-storey building with a basement and five floors is under construction. This will house a multi-level car and two-wheeler parking facility, railway offices, commercial zones, ticket counters, VIP lounges, and waiting rooms. Elevated roads with distinct arrival and departure plazas are also being developed to streamline traffic.
On the western side (Bengaluru–Tumakuru Road entrance), a four-storey terminal building is coming up, featuring an elevated road with dedicated entry and exit lanes, ticket counters, dormitories, retiring rooms, and commercial areas. Well-planned layouts for passenger movement and parking will enhance commuter convenience.
One of the project’s key attractions is a 14,800 sq. meter air concourse that will offer retail outlets, food courts, airport-style lounges, and business centers. Sustainability has also been prioritized, with green building features such as rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plants, and energy-efficient LED lighting systems.
Work near Platform-1 (east side) is nearing completion, with separate entry and exit points being created to reduce congestion. Construction at the west entrance, near the metro station, is expected to finish within six months.
Once complete, Yeshwanthpur Railway Station will not only ease passenger movement but also redefine urban transit in Bengaluru with modern amenities and seamless connectivity.
