The city police have seized stolen gold ornaments, 136 valued at Rs. 9 lakh. The complainant, a resident of Gottigere, Kamakshi Layout, Hulimavu Police Station limits, had filed a complaint at Hulimavu police station.  The complainant who owns a grocery shop said that a woman who used to supply vegetables to the shop used to often take his house keys to use the rest room and she had taken advantage and stolen the gold jewellery. After being subject to interrogation she confessed to the crime.

A 60-year-old techie from Whitefield fell victim to cybercrime when miscreants posing as bank officials sent him a phone with a cloning app. He unknowingly inserted his sim card and began using it, resulting in the theft of Rs 2.8 crore from his fixed deposits. Police are investigating the case and closing in on the suspects.

City techie gets mobile phone as a gift with cloning app, loses Rs.2.8 crore

A city techie fell prey to cyber criminals after they posed as bank officials and gifted a cloning app-fitted mobile to a techie. The Whitefiled resident who did not suspect anything bean to use the phone and lost Rs. 2.8 crore.  The complainant told the Whitefield CEN police that received a call and the caller identified himself as a bank official from the bank where he had an account. He said due to prompt credit card payments the bank was gifting him mobile phone. The complainant received the mobile phone by courier and began using it and later found that he had lost Rs.2.8 crore which he had kept in his fixed deposits. The cyber criminals the complainants mobile number that was registered with the bank. They took control of Kumar's account and made away with the fixed deposit amount.
