A herd of four wild elephants was spotted late Saturday night in the Global Layout near Tattekere, causing panic among the residents.

Civilians noticed the elephants wandering in the premises of a private school in the area and started shouting. The commotion attracted more people from the neighborhood. The elephants, which had been resting among the vegetation in vacant plots, heard the noise and began roaming freely. One of the elephants even toppled a compound wall of a house.

Upon receiving the information, forest department officials and staff arrived on the scene and conducted an operation for two hours, using firecrackers to drive the wild elephants back towards the forest. The residents were relieved after the elephants were safely moved away.

The presence of elephants that have been attacking farmers' crops in rural areas is creating concern among the urban population as well. In the past three years, wild elephants have appeared in the city multiple times, specifically in areas like Lalahatta, Maralahalli, and Appagere, and their latest sighting in the Tattekere layout has heightened the fear among the locals.
