The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has invested ₹84.84 crore in the development of water infrastructure at Dr. Shivaram Karanth Layout, with an overall project cost nearing ₹100 crore. Spread across 3,546 acres, the layout aims to develop around 30,000 plots, with nearly 10,000 plots currently being sold at ₹4,900 per square foot to ensure fair pricing for the public. Development was initially scheduled to be completed by the end of April; however, work is still ongoing. Approximately 85% of the work has been completed in some zones, while other zones have about 30% pending. Installation of electric poles, streetlights, UGD network, and roadworks are in progress. Contractors have been instructed to complete all pending work within the next three months. The water supply Infrastructure, costing ₹84.84 crore, includes construction of ground-level reservoirs, feeder mains, and overhead tanks. The layout will receive water from the Cauvery Sixth Stage project, which plans to supply 500 MLD of water to Bengaluru and nearby towns. The project also covers 17 nearby villages, and the Karnataka Water Board had floated tenders last year to ensure timely infrastructure development. Officials have confirmed that the basic water supply works for the layout will be completed soon. As part of the project, the water supply infrastructure is being enhanced with the support of the Cauvery Phase 6 project, ensuring sustainable water resources for the upcoming residential area.
