Two FIRs filed against KSCA and RCB over Chinnaswamy stampede tragedy

In connection with the tragic stampede at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Cubbon Park Police have registered two FIRs against the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The incident occurred on Wednesday during the victory celebration of RCB, who recently won the 18th edition of the IPL. The stampede claimed the lives of 11 people and injured over 50 others.

A separate complaint has also been filed by the forum 'Naija Horatagarara Vedike', which has directly held Indian cricket star and RCB player Virat Kohli responsible for the tragedy. Police have confirmed receipt of the complaint and assured that it will be reviewed.

The two FIRs were registered based on complaints by Roland Gomes (25) and C. Venu (21), who were injured in the stampede. The event management company 'DNA', which was involved in organising the celebration, has also been named in the FIRs.

The first FIR was registered based on a complaint by Cubbon Park Police Inspector Girish A.K. According to the complainants, a lack of coordination and miscommunication regarding passes led to chaos at the stadium entrance, triggering the stampede. Both Gomes and Venu have alleged that RCB, DNA, and KSCA were responsible for the mismanagement.

RCB had earlier announced on social media that the victory parade would begin at 3 PM on Wednesday and that players would be brought to the stadium. Following this announcement, large crowds gathered at the venue.
