Two-And-A-Half-Year-Old Boy Dies Due To BWSSB’s Negligence
A two-year-old child died due to the negligence of Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) officials at Gollarhatti under Badarahalli police station. The incident took place around 10:30 am on Tuesday, when a two and a half year old child named Karthik fell into a pit dug for the BWSSB pipeline and drowned. Hanuman, who is a painter by profession had gone out to work. Karthik went to play outside the house at Doddagollarhatti on Magadi Road around 9:30 am. At around 10:30 am in the morning, Hanuman got a call from his wife saying that the child had fallen in the pit dug by BWSSB, and told Hanuman to come home immediately. When they reached the spot and pulled out the child with the help of bystanders, he lost consciousness. Hanuman has lodged an FIR against the BWSSB engineer and contractor, alleging negligence on the part of BWSSB officials and contractors for the death of his child. When contacted, BWSSB chairman Jayaram said that the chief engineer concerned has already been instructed to file a criminal case for negligence against the contractor concerned over the incident.
