Transgender Activist Tanushree murdered, husband missing
In a shocking incident, Tanushree, a prominent transgender activist and self-made billionaire, was brutally murdered just three months after her marriage. The crime took place in her residence at Gayatri Layout in Basaveshwara Nagar under the K.R. Puram police limits.
According to police sources, Tanushree (40) had recently married a man named Jagannath. She was found murdered with fatal injuries believed to be inflicted by sharp weapons. Preliminary investigations suggest the murder occurred three days ago, and her husband and household servant are both missing since the incident. Tanushree was known for her active role in Kannada advocacy groups and her NGO work. She had amassed considerable wealth through hard work and social service. Police suspect that Jagannath married her with the intention of acquiring her property and later conspired to kill her.
The K.R. Puram police have begun a manhunt for Jagannath and the domestic help, amid suspicions of a pre-planned murder for property. Further investigations are underway to determine whether the servant had a personal relationship with Jagannath and assisted in the crime. Hundreds of members from the transgender community gathered at the crime scene, expressing grief over the loss of a leader who had become a symbol of empowerment and courage. The police continue to appeal for information related to the suspects’ whereabouts.
