Three arrested for murder of man over old rivalry in Thanisandra

Amruthahalli Police have arrested three people, including a minor, in connection with the brutal murder of a man named Anjinappa (35), whose blood-soaked body was recently found in a deserted area of Akashavani Layout near Thanisandra.

The arrested have been identified as Prem, Darshan and a juvenile boy. According to the police, old rivalry and a petty quarrel over grazing sheep led to the cold-blooded killing.

Anjinappa, who was estranged from his wife, used to depend on free meals and stayed at various shelters for food and survival. Some days ago, he had a heated quarrel with Prem over grazing sheep in the area, which turned into a grudge.

On June 23, Prem and his friends, after consuming liquor, came across Anjinappa near Akashavani Layout. Seizing the moment, they picked up a quarrel with him and assaulted him with wooden sticks. Anjinappa suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.

Passersby noticed the bloodied body lying in the isolated spot and alerted the Amruthahalli Police. Initially, police suspected that Anjinappa may have died after collapsing on the road. However, the post-mortem report confirmed that he died due to severe injuries inflicted by assault.

Acting on this, police registered a murder case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from surrounding streets and inputs from local residents helped the police identify and trace the suspects.

“Based on technical evidence and local information, we tracked down the trio and uncovered that the murder was due to an old grudge over grazing sheep,” said Sajith V.J., DCP (East).

All three accused, including the minor, have been taken into custody for further interrogation.
