Suraj Revanna gets partial relief as CID files B report in sexual assault case
In a major relief for JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna, the CID has submitted a 'B Report' in one of the sexual assault cases filed against him, citing lack of evidence. The report was submitted to the Special Court for People’s Representatives in connection with a case registered at Holenarasipura Rural Police Station.
Suraj Revanna had been facing two FIRs related to allegations of unnatural sexual assault. While the CID has already filed a chargesheet in one case, the B Report — which effectively seeks closure of a case — pertains to the second FIR, based on a complaint filed by a person associated with the Brigade Khajanchi group.
The case dates back to June 22, 2024, when the complainant alleged that Suraj Revanna had committed unnatural sexual assault. Initially, the complaint was filed with the Hassan district police, but was later transferred to the Holenarasipura Rural Police Station. Based on the complaint, Revanna was arrested on June 23.
Following the legal developments, a counter-complaint was filed by Revanna's close aide, Shivakumar, who accused the complainant of blackmail and extortion. According to the counter-allegation, the complainant had threatened to file a false sexual assault case unless ₹5 crore was paid.
After these cross-allegations, the state government handed over the case to the CID for impartial investigation. CID officials conducted a detailed probe and concluded that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with prosecution in the second case, prompting the submission of the B Report.
