Shivamogga:

A disturbing rise in heart attack-related deaths across Karnataka has sparked alarm among the youth and middle-aged citizens, with ten reported cases in just the past few days from various districts including Hassan (2), Shivamogga (4), Dharwad (2), Tumakuru (1), and Mangaluru (1).

One of the most shocking incidents occurred when Chaitra (52), a resident of Mallapur village in Bhadravati taluk, collapsed after seeing a relative’s body at a funeral in Davangere. She died later at a private hospital due to the lack of timely treatment.

In another case, Dr. N. Sandeep (48), a respected doctor at the Government Community Health Center, Holehonnur, also succumbed to a heart attack.

Tragedy struck again in Shivamogga, where two young women lost their lives. Harshita (23), a new mother from Dyavinakare village, experienced chest pain a month after childbirth and died on the way to the hospital. Srinidhi (20), a graduate student from Basavanagangur, fell seriously ill on Sunday morning and passed away despite efforts to save her.

These cases have left health experts and families deeply concerned, particularly due to the youth of the victims. The surge has reignited discussion on the importance of early diagnosis, stress management, regular cardiac screenings, and the need for robust emergency healthcare infrastructure, especially in rural areas.

Public health authorities are now being urged to launch awareness campaigns and conduct detailed investigations to address this alarming trend and prevent further tragedies.
