The stretch of Hesaraghatta Main Road connecting 8th Mile to Chikkabanavara lacks speed breakers, leading to frequent accidents due to speeding vehicles, residents have alleged.

The road witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day, and vehicles often ply at high speeds. The absence of proper road dividers and sudden turns, especially near residential complexes, has made the situation worse. According to local residents, accidents have become a regular occurrence near Daffodils Apartment, where an open gap in the median allows speeding vehicles to make abrupt turns, creating a hazard for others on the road.

“Accidents happen almost every day at the turn near Daffodils Apartment. On average, at least three accidents occur here every week. We have CCTV footage and photographs as evidence,” said Sandeep Singh, a resident of the apartment complex. He added that repeated appeals have been made to the Bengaluru North Traffic DCP and BBMP officials, but no action has been taken. “We need scientifically designed speed breakers on both sides of the road to control speeding,” he stressed.

Responding to public concerns, Chikkabanavara Traffic Police Inspector Keshavamurthy N.N. stated that drainage and roadwork is currently underway along the Hesaraghatta Main Road. He acknowledged the lack of street lighting at the turn, which further adds to the danger. “We have brought this to the attention of the Traffic Division Commissioner and requested speed breakers near Daffodils Apartment, Nurture School, Bone Mill, and Saptagiri Junction,” he said.

Dasarahalli Zone Joint Commissioner Preetam Nasalapure also assured that prompt steps will be taken in the interest of public safety.
