Getting a decent house in Bengaluru is not less than a pain. These days landlords in Bengaluru are putting forth absurd eligibility criteria before renting their flats. Recently, a landlord in Bengaluru refused to rent his apartment to a man for scoring 75 percent marks in Class 12th. Now, a techie has claimed that he was duped of Rs 1.6 lakh while he was searching a house online in the IT hub. The techie, a native of Kolkata ended up losing his hard earned money to cyber crooks by making eight online transactions. Since he had to start his new job from June 1, he was planning to move to Bengaluru along with his girlfriend. My girlfriend and I planned to move to Bengaluru and I was looking online for rented houses. I spotted an attractive offer on the real estate portal No Broker about a flat in Marathahalli. The monthly rent was Rs 25,000 and two months' rent had to be paid in advance. I called the contact number provided and the owner identified himself as an Indian Army officer posted in Mumbai, the 25-year-old man who had got a job at a leading IT firm in Kadubeesanahalli narrated his ordeal while speaking to media. The software engineer liked the Marathahalli house and asked the army officer to go ahead with the rental agreement. The Army officer connected me to someone who he claimed was the manager of his Bengaluru flat and the duo asked me to make a deposit of Rs 4,000 to seal the deal, which I did through Google Pay.
