Shivakumar to become CM in 2 months: Iqbal Hussain
In a statement that may stir Karnataka’s political scene, senior Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain has confidently claimed that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will become Chief Minister within two months. He described the leadership shift as vital for the Congress party’s future.
Two hundred percent, he will become CM. We will make it happen. The party needs strong leadership to prepare for 2028, Hussain told, stressing that the Congress cannot afford to wait any longer.
He argued that the leadership change isn’t just an opinion, but a widely shared sentiment among party MLAs. This is not only my view; most legislators believe Shivakumar should lead. Some in power may think otherwise, but grassroots leaders are focused on the party’s future and the needs of our workers, he said.
Hussain was also careful to praise current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, calling him one of the best leaders and acknowledging his contributions. I respect him deeply. He has provided good governance. But we’ve given him enough time — during his last term and now again. It’s time for a transition, he added.
Highlighting Shivakumar’s role in securing 136 seats in the 2023 elections, Hussain said his hard work and dedication deserve recognition. He played a key role in building the party. His efforts were tireless. Now is the right time to give him the chance to lead, he said.
Hussain’s remarks come amid increasing attention on the Congress high command, which had reportedly agreed to a power-sharing deal between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar after last year’s Assembly win.
