The Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, a vital infrastructure connecting the state capital to the cultural heart of Karnataka, has been instrumental for the people of four districts, including Mandya and Ramanagara, and millions of daily commuters.

After 30 years since the approval of this project, the Karnataka government has set up a seven-member cabinet sub-committee to review the current status of the expressway. This committee will be led by Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara. The expressway project, which received approval from the then-Janta Dal government in 1995, is now under scrutiny. The committee will assess the progress of the project, consider any suggestions or recommendations, and determine the next steps for its completion. The Hindustan Times reported that the sub-committee will also examine the work completed so far, especially the 4 km of expressway, 41 km of peripheral road, and 8.5 km of link road constructed up until now. However, several issues remain unresolved, including delayed compensation payments to farmers, which have led to over 370 pending legal cases.

The seven-member committee includes Law Minister H.K. Patil, Food and Civil Supplies Minister K.H. Muniyappa, Industry Minister M.B. Patil, Social Welfare Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, and Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda. The committee will conduct an on-site inspection of the expressway and work with legal experts to address possible legal issues. It is expected to submit a report within the next two months.
