Selling fertilisers without licenses will be booked; DC
Deputy commissioner A.B. Basavaraju has issued a stern warning that legal action will be taken against those involved in selling and trading unauthorized fertilizers and in fertilizer black marketing.
On Friday, a meeting of fertilizer manufacturers was held at the Taluk Office, chaired by officials from the Agriculture Department to address the upcoming monsoon fertilizer needs.
He emphasized that the details of fertilizer adulteration and maximum retail price (MRP) should be prominently displayed at accessible locations for the public. He also directed officials to promote the use of alternative compound fertilizers and organic compost as substitutes for DAP fertilizer to increase awareness among farmers.
The DC warned that legal action will be initiated against those selling fertilizers at prices above the maximum retail price.
Joint Director of Agriculture B.G. Kalavati informed that a total demand of 31,799 metric tons of various fertilizers is expected for the upcoming monsoon. Currently, 14,213 metric tons of fertilizers are available, and supplies will be distributed in phases according to the demand.
Additional Agriculture Director Gayatri, subordinate agriculture officers of the taluk, district and taluk level officials, wholesalers, retailers, and representatives of fertilizer suppliers were present at the meeting.
