The Karnataka State Committee of the Scheduled Castes Coalition for Social Justice has urged the state government to implement internal reservation among Scheduled Castes based on existing data, without extending the survey period further.

Addressing a press conference, Basavaraj Koutal, the state general secretary of the coalition, said that the single-member commission headed by retired Justice H.N. Nagamohan Das has already completed over 91–92% of the internal reservation survey across the state, with some districts reaching 100% completion.

"Despite two previous extensions, the response to the survey in Bengaluru Urban remains low. There’s no justification for extending the timeline again. The government should immediately accept the commission’s report and implement internal reservation based on the available data," Koutal said.

He emphasized that any further delay would be unfair to the socially and educationally backward communities within the SC category who are waiting for equitable distribution of benefits through internal quota provisions. The coalition also warned that continued postponement could lead to public dissatisfaction and mass mobilization in protest.
