Samashti to Host 3-Day Theatre Festival at Ranga Shankara from June 3
Bengaluru’s acclaimed theatre group Samashti is all set to captivate audiences with a vibrant three-day theatre festival titled Samashti Natakotsava 2025, scheduled to be held at Ranga Shankara from June 3 to 5. Known for its dynamic contribution to Kannada theatre for over 25 years, Samashti will present three of its most popular comedy productions, promising a blend of wit, cultural reflection, and theatrical brilliance.
June 3: Neeru Kudisida Neereyaru
Kicking off the festival is this witty adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, relocated to the fictional town of Terekannambe in the Mysore region. The play follows a boastful, womanizing man whose attempts at trickery land him in hilarious predicaments. With themes of love, jealousy, class, and female empowerment, it takes a realistic approach to one of Shakespeare’s most fast-paced comedies.
🕢 Showtime: 7:30 PM, Tuesday, June 3
June 4: Mukkam Post Bombilwadi
This inventive farce places Adolf Hitler in the middle of a fictional coastal village named Bombilwadi after a failed mission in Japan. Mistaken for someone else, Hitler gets entangled with a local drama troupe, leading to a series of humorous events including mistaken identities, British colonial interference, and frantic theatrical improvisation.
🕢 Showtime: 7:30 PM, Wednesday, June 4
June 5: Miss Sadarame
Concluding the festival is Miss Sadarame, a lively revival of Bellave Narahari Shastry’s Kannada classic. Adapted by the legendary B.V. Karanth, this tale of love, separation, and reunion is rich with humour and musical elements. It tells the story of Sadarame, a merchant’s daughter who braves adversity after falling in love with a prince.
🕢 Showtime: 7:30 PM, Thursday, June 5
The festival promises a delightful experience for theatre lovers, combining literary adaptations with local storytelling flair.
