Residents vent ire over long pending completion of Thale Road in Anekal
Residents of Anekal have expressed their frustration as the much-anticipated expansion of Thali Road remains incomplete even three years after the foundation stone was laid. The question on everyone’s mind is: "Is it really going to take three years to extend just one kilometer of road?"
The incomplete work has resulted in a road filled with rubble and dust, posing a significant challenge for residents to commute safely and comfortably.
For decades, the people of Anekal have been demanding the widening of Thali Road to facilitate smooth traffic flow. Although the government finally responded with a ground breaking ceremony on March 18, 2022, little progress has been made since then. The project involved acquiring homes and demolishing portions of the road, but no further development has occurred. Despite laying stones a year ago, drainage work remains pending, and the road continues to be a narrow, dusty, and congested route.
The narrow road leads to daily traffic jams and dust, making travel difficult for commuters. This road connects Anekal to Vankanahalli, Telgarahalli, Thali in Tamil Nadu, and further links to Inlavad, Chikkhosahalli, Thammanayakanahalli, Karkalghatta, and ultimately Kanakapura and Harohalli. Its narrowness has long been a concern for residents, who have repeatedly requested its widening during elections over the past 20-30 years. However, progress remained stagnant until the recent intervention.
