Residents alarmed over PG nuisance

Silicon City Bengaluru is increasingly witnessing disturbing incidents involving Paying Guest (PG) residents. Recently, a young woman was seen running on a public street without proper clothing, raising concerns among citizens. Now, more allegations have surfaced regarding inappropriate behavior by PG residents, particularly in the HSR Layout area.

According to local residents, PG tenants are reportedly jumping over compound walls into neighboring properties and engaging in voyeuristic activities. Complaints suggest that young men peek into homes, especially when women are asleep. Despite residents informing BBMP officials and the police, action remains minimal, with authorities allegedly turning a blind eye.

Near Agara Lake in HSR Layout, many buildings constructed under residential permits have been illegally converted into PG accommodations. Owners often wash their hands of tenants’ behavior after renting out the premises. As a result, local families feel unsafe, even during daylight hours. Residents complain that young women often roam the streets in minimal clothing, smoking cigarettes, and displaying inappropriate behavior with visiting men. This has forced families to restrict the movements of their daughters and female members.

Despite repeated protests and complaints, illegal PGs continue operating. Residents accuse authorities of negligence and suspect bribery. Nighttime disturbances, loud parties, and persistent harassment have left families frustrated and distressed. Locals have urged the government and police to vacate unauthorized PGs immediately, seeking urgent intervention for the restoration of peace and safety in the neighborhood.
