Rapido rider claims victim attacked him first in Bengaluru incident
Bengaluru
The case of an alleged assault on a young woman by a Rapido bike rider in Bengaluru has taken a turn. The bike rider, Suhas, now claims that the woman initiated the assault.
In a viral video, Suhas stated that the woman was the first to verbally abuse and then assault him. He alleged that she stopped him midway and started swearing in English, claiming he took a shortcut. Suhas said he told her he'd been riding for five years and knew the way. He further accused her of hitting him with a tiffin box.
Suhas explained that because he was hit in front of so many people, he got angry and hit her back. Afterwards, he went to the store where she worked to complain to the manager. The manager allegedly told him she was "psycho" and "behaved erratically there too." Suhas then returned home. He stated that the police called him after the video went viral and he has pledged to cooperate with the investigation.
The incident involved a woman named Shreya who booked a Rapido ride. The bike rider, Suhas, was allegedly driving at an excessive speed while Shreya was a pillion rider. Shreya reportedly warned him about the overspeeding, which led to an argument between them. During the heated exchange, Suhas allegedly slapped Shreya. Locals then intervened and rescued Shreya. A video of this incident had also gone viral on social media.
